Shanae' Calhoun

Shanae’ envisions a society that embraces equity, justice, growth, and love, where everyone has the opportunity for joy and wellness. With over 14 years of experience as a community organizer, 10 years as an executive director, and five years as a professional consultant, Shanae’ has dedicated herself to partnering with, training, and resourcing institutional, community, and organizational leaders, who are—like her—on a mission to make a difference. 

 

Shanae’s experience as a community organizer, executive director, and consultant brings with it a wealth of expertise in building people power, fostering healthy organizational structures, nurturing thriving teams, and achieving positive outcomes by working alongside people often pushed to the margins of society. 

 

As executive director of Topeka J.U.M.P., she built one of the largest congregation-based community organizations in the state of Kansas, achieving community-sought wins via a powerful blend of data, training, storytelling, and community mobilization. Some of J.U.M.P.’s accomplishments under her leadership include: 

• Expanding mental healthcare access and provision for indigent Topekans

• Increasing the number of sober housing beds in Topeka three-fold

• Implementing a revolutionary ride-to-work program that provided 30,000+ rides to carless, working community members.
